Manipulation

What is it? A manipulation is a small quick movement at the end of range of movement of the spine, rib or sacro-iliac joint used to provide a stretch to help restore normal movement, and is characterised by the joint “clicking”

It can also be called an adjustment

Why do it? It is used to provide a localised stretch to a region of the spine to help restore movement.

Who would benefit? Your physiotherapist will discuss with you whether a manipulation is a appropriate treatment modality for your injury.

What is the process? If a manipulation is appropriate your physiotherapist will discuss with your the procedure and go through any testing to ensure it is undertaken in a safe and effective manner.

Who performs a manipulation? While undergraduate training teaches physiotherapists manipulation Bay Physiotherapy also has physiotherapists with post graduate qualifications in Manipulative Physiotherapy.

What is the cost? In most circumstances the cost can be covered through ACC or under your normal visit costs.
