Staff Profiles - Hamish Ashton

“Prevention to Performance - I have been working as a physiotherapist for over 20 years and as a sports physio for 15 years. Prevention of sports injuries by muscle assessment and correct training techniques will keep you on the field longer. This will also improve performance. If injuries happen, correct and effective treatment, followed by appropriate strength and conditioning rehabilitation will get you back to your best. See someone who understands sports injuries”

Hamish Ashton       MHSc.(Physio)  PGCert (Sport Ex Sci)  Physio Reg Acp  BSc.(Anat) MNZCP

Hamish has more than 20 years experience as a physiotherapist, and 12 years practicing acupuncture.  Over the last 16 years he has had a strong sports interest. This has led him to work with international football teams from two countries, as well as being physiotherapist for New Zealand Rowing, Waka Ama, Beach Volleyball and Lacrosse. He was also one of our Youth Olympic Festival team physiotherapists in Sydney. Hamish is currently one of only two accredited physiotherapists with the NZ Academy of Sport in the Tauranga region.

Hamish also has a strong interest in Sports Science, having post graduate training in Sports Biomechanics and Physical Conditioning. Using Silicon Coach’s Video Analysis and comprehensive muscle balance assessments, niggly and repetitive problems are understood and corrected. His motto “Prevention to Performance” encompasses his strengths – injury prevention, rehabilitation and exercise prescription/conditioning, and you don’t need to be an elite athlete to benefit from his knowledge.
