Your Problem -
Gym Based Programs
What is it? Gym based programs involve the use of resistance through machines, dumbbells or stretchy band to help improve your muscle strength , coordination, and overall function. It may be used in conjunction with traditional physiotherapy treatment or independently as a separate program.
Why do it? After an injury or operation your body will loose muscle strength and size, and your ability to perform activities will be compromised. If this loss is significant then stimulating the body through a progressive and individualised gym program will better enable you to return to full function
Who would benefit? Anyone who is recovering from a long term injury or orthopaedic surgery.
What is the process? Your physiotherapist will develop a program that is personally suited to you injury and your ability. This will then gradually progressed over time as you recover. Exercises will need to be undertaken regularly through the week to gain benefits. You may need the approval of your Surgeon before commencing a program.
What is the cost? In most circumstances the cost can be covered through ACC or under your normal visit costs.
